Jeanise Aviles, specializing in creative color, blonde hair and highlights, is a virtuosic and inspiring addition to the Seagull Salon team. A native New Yorker, Jeanise has witnessed first-hand the ebb and flow of our city’s street style and highbrow looks. Her mother was also a hair stylist and experimented with her wildest ideas on Jeanise herself. With over 12 years of experience as a colorist, Jeanise tailors her vision to each person who walks though our doors. A self-described living beauty experiment, Jeanise is inspired by 1980’s downtown graffiti, Jim Henson’s Muppets, and the pages of every major fashion magazine.
While training under the art directors of Vidal Sassoon for two years, Jeanise became increasingly fascinated by the manipulation of color and its proportions, consistently delivering, unique and wearable hair color with her own special touch. Jeanise has taught master classes for the Davines creative color team, and for stage shows and nationally-attended color conferences, Jeanise collaboratively created stunning editorial looks for understudies seeking fresh ideas to take home.
Jeanise’s heart lies in collaboration and personal expression in salon but also has compassion for causes higher than herself. For four years in a row, Jeanise was flown to Vienna to style hair for the Life Ball, the biggest fundraising party in the world for HIV/AIDS activism. Working alongside of legendary stylist Danilo Dixon, Jeanise has contributed an immeasurable amount of hair flair to some of the most crucial components of queer health activism.
From sparkling platinum blondes to natural sandy highlights, you can’t go wrong with Jeanise. It’s gonna be a fun and super-relaxed visit because she is a consummate professional, as well as an all-around good time.
