Stacy

Assistant and hair stylist-in- training Stacy Oviedo developed an enthusiasm for hair cutting and coloring while studying painting and illustration at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology. A nuanced, rule-breaking approach to structure, form, and color came naturally for Stacy as she moved from the Do-It-Yourself music scenes of New Jersey to the Arrojo Cosmetology School inManhattan where she began her professional training.
Armed with a background in art, fashion, and beauty, and committed to feminist principles, Stacy is a perfect fit for Seagull. She was drawn to us because she feels the salon is a model for how the entire beauty industry could break with stale, sexist ideas. Stacy believes experimentation with personal style can be key to opening a larger cultural conversation around gender norms and the affirmation of our authentic selves. Stacy has also worked at Lush Cosmetics and Fringe hair salon (alongside Seagull assistant Maggie). She is currently advancing her hair cutting and coloring skills under the watchful eyes of all Seagull stylists including our in-house Wella International educator Liz Wright.
